There are also some restrictions which are there to make your network more secure, the first restriction is that 192.168.2.1 is your private IPv4 network address which means no one outside from your local network can access it. So you can’t use it from outside. The other restriction is that only one device at a time can access the 192.168.2.1, it is to ensure that there is no IP Address conflicts.
How to check what is default IP Address of your router?
Most of the time the people who set up the router in your home will provide you all the details, but if you don’t know what is the default IP Address of your router then you can use these steps.
- Open the “Command Prompt” from your PC. If you are a Windows 10 user, you can type the “Command Prompt” in the search bar.
- The command prompt will show the “C:\Users\(your computer name)>” or something similar.
- Type the “ipconfig” command, it will show your IP configuration.
- Now look for “Default Gateway” and you will find your Default IP Address.
How to Change the Default Router IP Address
Router Manufacturers set the same default router IP Address to make it easy for consumers to access the home network settings, but once you get the router you can change the default IP Address if you want. To change the Default IP Address, Look for “Network” tab in the settings. Once you find it, click it and find the “LAN” section. There you will find the options to change your default IP Address. The other most common Default IP Addresses are 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.
If you want to change the Default IP Address of your network for security purposes then this won’t work. Even if you change the Default IP Address to some other non-default IP Address, one will be able to restore the router to the Default IP Address by resetting the router.
How to troubleshoot the common Router Issues
If you are finding it difficult to access the Router’s settings and you are getting the error “This webpage is not available” then there is a possibility that your router is not connected to your network. So you can take the following steps to solve this problem.
- First, make sure that your router is connected to the Ethernet cable. In most of the cases, the cable isn’t connected to the router properly, so if this is the case, then connect it. However, also check the wire itself to ensure that it isn’t damaged.
- Now check the LED’s of your router and look for the globe symbol as it shows that internet is working. Many manufacturers use their own symbols so we would recommend you to consult the manual provided by the Manufacturer.
- Also, restart the router by turning it off and turn it on after few seconds.
- Now get back to the browser and check if the problem is solved. If it solved, well and good but if it isn’t solved then you can go to restore the default, as in most of the cases it solves the problem.
You can follow these steps to restore the default settings:
- Unplug the router and connect it to your computer.
- Login to your network settings.
- Go to the Management > Settings.
- Find the “Restore to Default”, it will restore the configurations to the Default settings.
- Restore it and check again. In most of the cases, it will solve the problem.
